In 2004, The Cable Guy was developed as an additional service business within a successful audio visual company by one of the company directors, Glen Keoghan.

In July 2006, Glen decided to focus solely on The Cable Guy, and buying the business from his colleagues, he began pursuing his dream of making The Cable Guy the most successful home-integration company in New Zealand. The pursuit of this dream has seen The Cable Guy grow to include six franchises across five regions in the North Island, and the business quickly gain a reputation for the professional service and workmanship each franchise delivers.
